About
It all started when…
Be an artist that represents the truth of the world, according to singer, songwriter and dancer Chizuko.
The young songstress discussed the importance of breaking barriers, healing music and spiritual clarity as she endures this new journey of the music industry.
“I was really young when I knew music was what I wanted to do, as I got older I used music as a form of expression,” she said.
Chizuko always knew music was in her life path and knew she wanted to use it as a tool for healing.
With musical inspirations such as Kendrick Lamar, Jhene Aiko and Teyana Taylor; Chizuko has been able to use elements from each artist to create her own sound that soothes the ears of listeners.
Her new single “Different” featuring James Worthy gave fans a sneak peak of the new musical headspace she is in. “I’m trying to be more vulnerable as a lyricist, so I’ll be presenting some more deeper topics coming up,” she said.
As she has traveled deeper through her journey of music she emphasized the importance of putting the healing into her music.
With new songs “Stuck with you” and “Ego Trip” coming soon she has the goal of opening up within more of her songs.
Throughout her own personal hustle Chizuko has also made time to give back to her community by giving vocal lessons.
“I want to give back to my community because I know when I first started singing it was a long journey for me,” she said. “I really wanted to help others on their journey because it is such a gratifying feeling.”
As a woman within the music industry Chizuko is determined to break barriers in whatever way she can for the next generation of artists.
“Often women of color… let’s just say if we mess up it almost feels like the end of the world for us especially in music and I don’t think that it’s fair,” she said.
She expressed her desire equality within a male dominated industry. “They should be interested in learning my music, in wanting to collaborate with me because of my sound and because I work hard.”
Overall, Chizuko is an artist to look out for from her different talents to her healing energy. “I definitely want my legacy to be looked at as empowering and to show others that life is meant to be lived.”
