Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have created a massive conversation after the release of their new song “WAP” which exudes confidence and comfortability as a woman.
Recently, a conversation has started that says the song is too explicit and sexual. Cardi B mentioned how YouTube made her release her visual for “WAP” with the clean lyrics because the song was too explicit for their platform.
This created a larger conversation about fake outrage within Hip Hop when dealing with female rappers. There have been many male rappers from the past and present who have made music with sexual and raunchy lyrics.
“WAP” is a sample from the song “Whores in this house” by Frank Ski which was released in 1993. This sample created a fun and catchy rhythm within the song. In a way this song pays homage to that type of raunchy and upbeat music and artists who represented that type of music such as Trina, Khia and Lil Kim.
