Kehlani wore her heart on her sleeve through her sophomore album “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t” where she took listeners on the journey of sex, love and heartbreak.  

Fans were able to hear Kehlani touch on different topics and address different aspects of her personal life that others may not know about. With powerful lyrics, soft melodies and colorful sounds Kehlani was able to paint a picture and bring listeners into her world.  

She was able to reveal different layers about herself with songs such as “Toxic,” “Water,” and “F&MU” where listeners can hear Kehlani paint a picture of her sensuality. Other songs such as “Bad News,” “Change Your Life,” and “Grieving,” show her vulnerable and emotional side that people can gain better insight on her life. 

This album has many different features such as Tory Lanez, Jhene Aiko, Masego, Lucky Daye and James Blake. Each artist added a different element to each song that they were featured on that brought the song alive and added color within each song.  

All in all, the album filled listeners with many different emotions that felt relatable and real. This album is recommended for someone who wants to claim their sensuality and become emotionally present no matter what they are going through. Kehlani gave listeners a full cohesive body of work that touched the lives of others.
