TOP MOMENTS FROM THE BET HIP HOP AWARDS
MEGAN THEE STALLION PERFORMANCE:
Megan Thee Stallion showed the BET Hip Hop Awards audience that she is here to stay and does not plan on going anywhere anytime soon! The rapper opens the show with her song Hot Girl Summer bringing her signature dance moves and then closing out with her summer smash hit Cash Sh*t featuring DaBaby who joined her on stage. The duo brought an electric energy that captured everyone in the crowd. This performance was a great way to begin the Hip Hop awards and the audience was highly engaged ready to kick off a great show.
BET CYPHER:
It is a tradition that the BET Hip Hop Awards has their annual hip hop cypher that included many different upcoming artists including Kash Doll and Iman Shumpert. All the rappers were able to deliver clever punchlines and metaphors that caught the attention of the people. Everyone was able to hold their own weight and keep that fun energy of the art of rapping.
YBN CORDAE & ANDERSON PAAK
The duo gave an old school feel with their performance of the song RNP which was an electrifying and fun performance. Cordae and Paak gave great energy showing that they were having fun and enjoying the playful back and forth flow that the song portrays. The performance kept the audience’s attention and held up that fun energy of Hip Hop.
SAWEETIE
Bringing an electric energy Saweetie performed her smash hit My Type where her performances consisted of fun choreography, and she even brought out Lil Jon and Petey Pablo to perform the original song Freak-A-Leek which got the crowd excited and brought back that nostalgic feel.
LIVE RAP BATTLE
This was a new segment that the BET Hip Hop awards wanted to introduce to the audience, and it was something new and fresh that kept the audience engaged and excited. The live rap battles consisted of underground rappers who rapped raw and intensely back and forth until a winner was chosen. This battle was extremely entertaining and brought back the essence and purpose of what the Hip Hop awards is all about which is the art of rap.
DABABY PERFORMANCE
Dababy shut down the Hip Hop awards stage with an intense medley performing his new song INTRO and Babysitter featuring Offset. The performance consisted of great energy, dancing, and overall a fun energetic time. DaBaby won the crowd over with his fun energy and even won a Hip-Hop award for Best New artist.
CHANCE THE RAPPER
Chance the Rapper gave an intimate performance of his song Sun Come Down from his new album The Big Day. The performance gave a personal and loving tone that made people feel what he feels which is the love towards his wife. Chance was able to paint a picture through this performance and exemplify what love consists of and how it has changed him for the better.
LIL KIM
Lil Kim receives the “I am Hip Hop” Award and is honored for being a trailblazer in female hip hop with her music, fashion, and outgoing personality throughout the music industry. She performs all her smash hits including Lighters Up, Quiet Storm, Crush on You and All about the Benjamins alongside Junior Mafia bringing back many nostalgic moments to the audience and gave an overall fun and energetic performance to close out the BET Hip Hop awards.
