About
It all started when…
Being able to make change is something that is not an overnight process, but a lifestyle. With so much happening in the world socially there has been a monumental shift and movement within Black Lives Matter.
For the past month the Black Lives Matter Movement has been at an all-time high that needs to continue forever. With the unjust deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and most recently Rayshard Brooks there is a major message that this movement is not over and should not be looked at as a trend.
People have died and put their lives on the line for this movement to progress and now is the time to make the voices of the public be heard. There are several ways that citizens can have their voices heard such as protests, letters to city council, petitions and simply sharing information.
The time to pay attention is now. The impact that this movement has within the community is that there is now space for a dialogue to happen especially between large companies and brands who capitalize off black culture and benefit from the black dollar.
Watch and pay attention to the companies who have addressed this movement genuinely and those who have not because now that is a sign of who should have the full support of the black community.
Overall, the Black Lives Matter movement is not just a hashtag, but a lifestyle and that there is an importance to remember that this movement includes all black lives including Black LGBTQ+ lives, Disabled Black Lives and the lives of Black women. This momentum needs to continue for the sake of the future generations who will come afterwards and show them that nothing is impossible.
